TRIBUTE: Bowie
There have been few people in the history of humanity who lived as David Bowie lived.
We call them heroes.
Label them legends.
They are the blackstars.
He felt puny as a human so he said: FUCK THAT and aimed to be superhuman.
In my childhood, Bowie was a dark and enigmatic prince
juggling glass orbs and surrounded by a labyrinth filled with muppets.
I loved him, I feared him, I vowed I would do as said, but alas, he was never my slave.
I don't think he was anyone's slave.
In my tumultuous teen years,
David Bowie was the peak of the Holy Trinity
with Trent Reznor as his protege and the Holy Spirit and Delirium Tori Amos.
He was an explorer and a visionary and
something happened on the day he died:
His essence dispersed to the Universe and brought artists like myself to a new height of inspiration.
He left mysteries and he left music.
He lived and he died.
as we all must.
I am here to unveil my tribute to David Bowie & to to announce
an event the like of which has rarely been seen anywhere.
Along with musicians & performers from across the country,
this August at the Bundy Museum of History & Art in BINGHAMTON NY,
we will be exploring death and living life
in a performance painting lasting 10 days, spanning 2 murals over 14 sessions.
There will be magic.
There will be music.
We will speak the truths that need to be said.
Because
the truth is of course that there is no journey. We are arriving and departing at the same time.
This landmark event is called INSTALLATION | Music
and at its heart, over the altar of music and inspiring us all will be
